Cate Goes Dutch at The National Ballet

Cate (14) from Jedburgh is a full-time student at The Royal Ballet School who will be attending the prestigious Dutch National Ballet’s Summer Intensive, with a funding award from The Realising Dreams Foundation.

From starting ballet at the age of 8, Cate went on to secure multiple associate programmes, including The Royal Ballet School Associate Programme and the Young Dancers Academy of London. A talented dancer, Cate has performed several times in The Royal Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker and took part in a BBC documentary celebrating Sir Peter Wright’s 90th birthday, ‘Dancing The Nutcracker – Inside The Royal Ballet’.

Cate has managed to balance her academic studies with her love for ballet, sitting her GCSEs alongside several hours of ballet training a day at the School. Cate has secured scholarships and won prizes for both artistic performance and academic attainment – all in pursuit of her dreams.

She is now considering the option of continuing her training at the Upper School, Covent Garden. However, this level of ballet tutelage is notoriously competitive and requires even more training.

Cate has been invited to attend a summer ballet school intensive with the Dutch National Ballet this July but struggling to find the additional funding needed to make this opportunity a reality. The Realising Dreams Foundation was impressed by the talent, drive and determination Cate shows to secure the places, opportunities and vital funds to take the next step towards her ballet dreams.

We are delighted to offer an award which allows Cate to shine within the international ballet community at the Dutch National Ballet’s summer intensive. This could be the springboard she needs to take her ballet to the next level. Good luck Cate!

Cate trains daily to further her ballet dream.
