Georgia-Mae Leaps into 2019 at Kate Simmons Dance School

The Realising Dreams Foundation is excited to announce their first award in 2019 to ballet dancer Georgia-Mae.

Georgia-Mae (17) is a classically trained ballerina who is now perfecting her talent at Kate Simmons Dance. Since beginning her ballet training at 10 years old, Georgia has combined talent with self-discipline to rise through the ranks from corps de ballet to principal roles at Midland Theatre Ballet. In her first year at Kate Simmons Dance she shone earning the role of Clara in her dance school production of the Nutcracker – a role usually only offered to 2nd and 3rd years.

The Realising Dreams Foundation seeks to support extraordinary young people – not simply those with a talent, but those who excel, have a career pathway and demonstrate a desire to give back and make a difference.

Beyond Georgia-Mae’s list of ballet achievements we were impressed by her frequent volunteering efforts including teaching movement and music at a nursery and toddler group. She has also taught dance for the younger students at her local ballet school and at Midland Theatre Ballet. In the future, she hopes to create an outreach dance programme visiting local schools and church youth groups and hopes to create a scholarship for a dance summer camp. We love this drive and ambition that would see her use her love of dance and her talent to inspire and teach a new generation of dancers who might not otherwise have these opportunities.

Georgia-Mae gained offers from all the dance schools she applied for including her number one choice – Kate Simmons Dance. Despite hard work and reasonable sacrifices from her and her family the remaining costs of this course were proving out of reach. The Realising Dreams Foundation has stepped in to offer an award for Georgia-Mae to complete her coming year’s training and give her the professional training she needs to take the next step in her ballet journey. We look forward to following her progress.
