Lily Joins the Ranks at RWCMD

15-year-old Lily from Cardiff is a multi-talented musician with a particular love for flute, who is joining the Advanced Course on the Junior Conservatoire at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) with an award from The Realising Dreams Foundation.

Lily impressed the trustees with her talent and success in national competitions. She was awarded 3rd place at the Rhondda Cynon Taf Young Musician of the Year competition, and came 2nd in the Under 15s woodwind section of the National Youth Eisteddfod 2019 held in Wales annually. Lily progressed quickly through her flute tuition and earned a Grade 8 with distinction at the age of 14, while learning multiple other instruments to a similarly high standard. She currently plays in the Four Counties Youth Orchestra, having first been offered a place at 11-year-old.

The trustees recognised her strong track-record of success at a competitive level and could see that the opportunity to train at The RWCMD would give her the focus and training to transition to a new phase of her flute career.

We are excited to welcome Lily to the musical side of The Realising Dreams Foundation family and will watch her professional progress with interest in the coming year.

Lily has won multiple awards and accolades for her flute playing.
