Sara’s dream to give back to pupils in Honduras

We were delighted to present Sara Morrison with a cheque this week for £1,200 to help her realise her dream to teach English to children in Honduras.
Sara is an inspiring 18year old who has a place at Edinburgh University to study French from next year, but she has first chosen to spend 12 months volunteering in Honduras through The Project Trust.
She had a target of £6,200 to fundraise to cover her costs.  Over the last few months, she has had stuck to a rigorous programme of fundraising events including running international citizenship lessons for pupils at her local school which culminated in a fun international dress up day for the children.  For her 18th birthday she also chose to ask her friends and family to donate to The Realising Dreams Foundation instead of receiving gifts.

Her application to us clearly highlighted her love and ability with languages. But she also impressed us with her commitment to use her talent to give back to others. We were happy to pledge £1,200 to help her achieve her dream.

From August she will travel to Candelaria which is a remote rural village in Honduras. While there she will work daily at the local primary school teaching English to pupils. We have no doubt this will prove an incredible experience for her as well as giving the pupils an invaluable opportunity to learn English.
Good luck Sara, we look forward to following your adventures.
